The Temple of the Monastery of Jeronimos has welcomed today the closing of the First International Conference of Social Work, Criminology and Penitentiary Volunteers.
The event was attended Thomas Violante, Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities of the CARM;
José María Caballero, vice dean of the Degree in Criminology at the UCAM;
Enrique Pastor, vice president of the General Council of Social Work of Spain;
Juan Carrion, president of the Association of Social Workers of Prisons, and Virginia Ayala, president of the Collective Association parentheses.
During his speech, Thomas Violante has highlighted the important work of voluntary prison institutions, and assured that "we must rely on the rehabilitative function of correctional institutions."
Similarly, the success of social integration of the prisoner has stated that "much depends on the motivation and support of the volunteer network."
