The University of Murcia develop scientific projects related to diseases of the retina (23/10/2015)

The University of Murcia has signed an agreement with the Federation of Retinitis Pigmentosa Spain (Farpe) and the Foundation Fighting Blindness (FUNDALUCE), which aims at developing the body of research on diseases of the retina today .

The promoter of the agreement, the rector of Transfer, Entrepreneurship and Employment, Francisca Thomas discussed the contents thereof, which provides for cooperation between the three institutions in solidarity and outreach activities.

Such cooperation shall be implemented by the University of Murcia, through the University Clinic of Integral Vision, directed by Professor Edmundo Uson.

The agreement was signed by the rector of the University, José Orihuela, and the president of Farpe and FUNDALUCE, Germán López, in a ceremony that took place in the building of convalescence, the home of the Chancellor.

After the signing ceremony, we proceeded to the delivery of FUNDALUCE 2014 Prize, worth 24,000 euros, was awarded to María Elena Rodríguez González-Herrero, an ophthalmologist at the University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca.

This afternoon, the Faculty of Arts at the University of Murcia will host the XVII Conference of Farpe-FUNDALUCE Research, to be attended by the rector Orihuela and the Minister of Health, Encarna Guillen.
