The Master in Radiation Oncology at the University of analyzes Murcia care management of cancer survivors (21/10/2015)

The scientific coordinator of the National Cancer Strategy Health System, Dr. Josep Maria Borràs, closed at the University of Murcia (UMU) the sixth edition of the Master in Radiation Oncology, with a lecture on the care management of cancer survivors .

Borràs announced that in the first quarter of 2016 the new strategy will be published in cancer, which will have to respond to the chronicity of the disease result of the success of the research conducted in the last two decades, he said and special needs 100,000 new long cancer survivors who are registered each year.

According to this expert, patients may experience side effects after treatment, consequences of the disease and risks of relapse, so the most reasonable option would be "monitoring stratify patients according to their needs after treatment" and establish a "individualized monitoring plan, which in many cases may involve primary health care."

The closing ceremony of the Masters, held in the Rector of the University under the direction of Vice Chancellor for Education and Innovation, Pedro Miralles, included a roundtable multidisciplinary approach response required by the geriatric patients was analyzed.

The Master organized by the IMO Group Foundation in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Murcia and the Foundation for Health Training and Research in the Region of Murcia, has been formed over the last six years in radiation oncology and radiosurgery to 60 students 23 nationalities.
