The City of Murcia Murcia encourages to participate in the national contest Smart Cities (17/10/2015)

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Administration Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, headed Jose Guillen, encourages technology companies to present their ideas and initiatives in this new edition.

This time the initiative comes together with Portugal, the first Iberian call for these features.

"Entrepreneurs need cities where implement their developments, and cities need their innovations to improve services to citizens," said Guillen.

The Spanish Network of Intelligent Cities (RECI) and Fundetec foundation convened for the second year the initiative startup4cities a global pioneer proposal, which aims to promote technology-based entrepreneurship aimed at responding to the new challenges of the smart city.

It held in conjunction with the Portuguese Network of Smart Cities (RENER) and Inteli organization, under the existing cooperation agreement between the two networks.

Startup4cities is aimed at start-ups that have gestated projects in Spain or Portugal that are at an early stage of development and need to validate your product or service and its business model in a real city environment.

To participate, they must submit their projects before midnight on October 19 through the online form you will find on the website of the initiative, which will also see the rules of the call.

A jury with expertise in the field of new technologies and smart cities will select the 10 best projects from each of the two countries.

These 20 entrepreneurs will be invited to the final event, which will have the opportunity to present and defend their proposals before an audience of municipal representatives from more than a hundred smart cities of the Spanish and Portuguese networks, also attended accelerators, incubators , investors, business schools and all kinds of entities linked to the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Startup4cities 2015 The final event will be held on November 17 in Barcelona, ​​under the Smart City Expo World Congress.

In it, the municipalities select projects considered of interest and offer them their city as a laboratory to test its product, creating a great Iberian network of urban laboratories whose experiences will be shared among all municipalities.

Thus, municipal corporations can offer their citizens services created from entrepreneurship and provide business opportunities and job creation linked to the development of the city.
