The PSOE proposes that the City look urgently location Railway Museum Murcia (12/10/2015)

Municipal Councillor, Begoña García Retegui, Socialist Group will defend at the next Full Council of Murcia a motion to propose the search and provision of suitable premises for the installation of Murcia Railway Museum "with the speed required immediate eviction from rented premises that now stands and precariousness that is the same ".

For it suggests that offered as alternatives Artillery Barracks, the facilities of the old station Zaraíche (EMUASA current administrative headquarters) or the Old Jail.

This initiative Municipal Socialist Group indicated that the cost of adapting the building that is considered most appropriate for installing the Railway Museum is requested to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Community and the Ministry of Culture under 1 Cultural percent.

In the preamble, Begoña García Retegui recalls that the initiative to create a Railway Museum in Murcia arises from the Murcia Association of Friends of the Railway (AMAF), with the intention of housing in the current main building of the station Murcia del Carmen (owned by Adif), and in the vicinity to said main building of the station grounds, collection of locomotives, objects, devices, models, etc.

In fact, within the program of enhancement of PHCF (Railway Cultural Heritage), the creation of a specialized Railroad Museum aims, these activities being located in an environment of maximum cultural and interest related to the railway activities.

In July 2012, the then councilor of the PSOE, José Zapata, filed a motion with this theme and was rejected by an absolute majority of the Popular Party.

"This matter remains unresolved, despite the threat that the current facilities pose the arrival of the AVE works to our city," concludes the socialist mayor.
