The secretary general of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Taleb Rifai, and the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, have signed this afternoon at the Campus of Los Jerónimos the memorandum of cooperation between the two institutions.

Taleb Rifai thanked the interest of the Catholic University of Murcia to contribute to the improvement of tourism as a key sector worldwide. For his part, José Luis Mendoza has highlighted the importance of the UCAM have studies related to this field: "Tourism is a key strategic sector in our country and for our region in particular has a great future, but need to upgrade. . It is an economic engine that generates wealth. So we want to strengthen it from the UCAM offering better prepare our students in tourism in areas such as marketing or communication. The event also was attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Borrego, and was attended by the Deputy Dean of the Degree in Tourism, Ginesa Martinez del Vas, teachers and students of this degree.

Through the agreement signed between both institutions established cooperation to achieve common objectives and implementation of projects in the areas of research, exchange of knowledge and success stories in tourism;

and collaboration in innovation and tourism.

Tourism training UCAM

Studies related to tourism are of particular importance in the Catholic University and therefore offer the Degree in Tourism in the campus of Murcia and Cartagena.

In this respect, it is recalled that the UCAM is the only university in the region which is affiliated to the World Tourism Organization, particularly since 2010.

The Catholic University also teaches the Masters in Hotel Management and Restoration Companies and Tourism Marketing and Innovation.

The latter, with English version, has enjoyed the presence of students from various countries among them Vietnam and India.
