Murcia's change calls for a network of cycling trails that helps the development of the system MUyBICI (05/10/2015)

Murcia change today called on the City Council to launch an "effective and appropriate" network of cycling trails that allow for the proper functioning of the system of public bicycle loan (MUyBICI).

Councilman Nacho Tornel considers that this system is positive but development can not be complete because they lack measures to promote mobility and coexistence among users of the bike and other vehicles and pedestrians.

Tornel explained that Article 13 of the regulations governing use of MUyBICI sanctions are set by the movement "out of cycle paths and designated areas" marked by municipal ordinance.

This ordinance, Article 6, referring to MUyBICI system says that this system will be implemented in phases as they are building the cycling trails listed in the Master Plan for Bike Murcia.

However, "the lack of development of the Plan stifles growth potential of the system and causes problems of living on public roads between users of different means of transport, including pedestrians."

According Tornel, "gives the impression that whoever does the regulation is aware of the poor implementation of the Master Plan, which affects the development of the system, to the point that it does not establish a concrete mechanism to detect possible violations of users Bike when driving on public roads ".

One of the most visible problems in Murcia is that cyclists use sidewalks choose their own lack of adequate security to the detriment of pedestrian safety conditions.

As an example of good work has been the case of the City of Zaragoza, which through a public website, specifies the conditions for travel by bike in a concise and concrete.
