The University archaeologist pays tribute to the necropolis of El Cigarralejo (02/10/2015)

The University of Murcia yesterday held a tribute ceremony archaeologist and engineer Murcia Square Emeterio Diaz (1907-2002), who was awarded an honorary doctorate of this educational institution in 1985.

Emeterio Cuadrado, who began his career with the canal Taibilla, is best known for his excavations and surveys in the necropolis of El Cigarralejo in Mula, where he made contributions of vital importance for knowledge and systematization of material culture Iberian.

In the tribute, held at the Museum of the University they participated Juan José Blánquez, Professor of Archaeology at the Autonomous University of Madrid;

Virginia Page, director of the Museum of Iberian Art Cigarralejo;

archaeologist Angel Iniesta, the engineer Juan Manuel Cuadrado Guillamón and son of the honoree.

The activity was part of the series "Reunion with our Doctors and Drs Honoris Causa", organized by the University of Murcia, with sponsorship from the Seneca Foundation, within the acts of its centennial.
