Murcia City Council launches new environmentally information in the Contraparada (25/09/2015)

The opening hours will be every Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 9:30 to 14 hours |

The Board of Governors approved the launch of the new information point, on Sunday September 27, next to the recreational area of ​​La Contraparada between New and Old Javalí Javalí, with opening hours on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 9.30 to 14.00.

With this project, the municipal government goes ahead with the development of the recovery plan and conservation Huerta tourist hub to make it to the use and enjoyment of Murcia.

One of the main strategic thrusts of the policy of the City of Murcia, is the development of this plan to recover our Huerta, therein our roots and our history, because it is a unique heritage that distinguishes Murcia from other cities.

This new point of information, which will open to the public for the first time, is designed as a service to the influx of visitors to the area of ​​La Contraparada, and their needs.

Thus, visitors will have the information necessary to know the most important natural and cultural values ​​of the site and the infrastructure, equipment, activities, existing routes for public use, and performance standards necessary for the conservation of the environment .

The point is located in an area of ​​great environmental, historical and cultural value, considered the origin of the Huerta de Murcia, where the River Segura caters to the canals that carry water from the river valley to the plots.

Around the Segura River are numerous items of interest as wheels, tower-houses, ditches, ponds and mills from our garden, giving this area a great asset attractive.

Also this place has a great biodiversity of flora and numerous species of wildlife among which the otter, which is in danger of extinction in the region of Murcia.

It is an artificial wetland where birds find shelter and a resting place for those who make great migratory journeys.

From the city of Murcia you can access the Contraparada bike after about 12.5 km on the bike path Butte Segura river and drive through the exit 654 of motorway A7.
