Gymkhana is the need to make every day the residents of Murcia to get to work (18/09/2015)

For us change Murcia we asked to participate in the gymkhana which has organized today the Town Hall, among others, representatives political groups, if it is an adventure for the residents of our city the scroll through the city trying to use transportation public.

Finally we decided to decline the invitation because we believe that sustainable mobility is not encouraged with gestures or with pictures, however striking they are, but by developing a true municipal program in which all citizens can participate.

Murcia City Council should be concerned to organize transport in the municipality through a comprehensive plan that includes a new map of bus lines in which the districts are the backbones, establishing unique notes and bonds for the entire municipality with free transfers, building sidewalks between districts and removing architectural barriers that people with disabilities can enjoy the city like the rest, to give some examples.

In addition, we are surprised that only has been invited to the gymkhana representatives of political groups, professional associations, journalists and athletes, as are neighborhood associations, groups defending the bike, students and, ultimately, those living in the neighborhoods and districts who best know what it costs to use public transport in our city and how to improve it.

Precisely these groups should be invited struggling to prevent a wall divides the city in two off the complicity of those who prefer fun in the name of sustainable transport.

In any case, it is good news that our representatives catch public transport, even a day a year.
