The City of Murcia embellishes the Plaza de San Julián and the Plaza de la Candelaria (24/08/2015)

The aim is that both spaces become public spaces of family life |

The Department of Administration Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, headed Jose Guillen, has executed two projects of management of Plaza San Julian and Pilar Street and the Plaza de la Candelaria in Santa Eulalia to beautify and improve these places turning in areas of family life.

In Piazza San Julian is installed street furniture that has transformed the current character of the square, making it a more friendly area also have been used vegetable elements on metal baskets placed in trees, and tree planters, designed especially for the Murcia historic environment.

"In all five elements have been distributed of its kind in the Plaza de San Julián with the function of creating a visual background plant to its most emblematic buildings," stated Guillen, who also reported that "four cubic boxes have been installed at the Pillar, providing a continuity to San Julian and marking a journey to San Pedro or Veronicas ".

So, Councilman Modernization stated that "the chosen design of the planters made of steel plates, with a geometric and irregular shape that reproduces the medieval street of Murcia"

Also in the Plaza de la Candelaria Santa Eulalia six have been planted orange trees, a palm tree, a cypress a euonymus and creeping rosemary and installed a bank, two boxes and four metal bins.

On the back of the church, around the apse and with views of the Tower of the Cathedral, there is provided a bed of shrubs that highlights the volumes of building brick.
