Works to improve road safety on the street Paul VI will begin before the end of the year (13/08/2015)

One of the main streets of La Paz will be safer for pedestrians.

The Traffic Department will implement various improvement works on the busy road connecting Paul VI on May Avenue and Avenue of Fame.

These measures are specifically aimed at improving road safety for pedestrians.

The project will expand the number of traffic lights at the three intersections that lack them and reducing from two to one lane of traffic in the current most dangerous sections of the road.

The goal is to reduce traffic intensity and also the speed of passage and reduce the width of roadway to cross pedestrians.

With these two measures will be achieved also provide greater surface area free parking, getting more than 80 new jobs.

By reducing the road extending sidewalks, especially at intersections of lower visibility, which is to get shorten the stretch of road crossing by pedestrians thereby increasing their safety will occur.

On the other side it is regulated by traffic light installations existing crossings in this route including different types of lights, columns and supports to increase the flow of traffic and avoid unnecessary delays.

These elements include acoustic signals and vandal buttons to demand crosswalk.

The project will not change and respect the two exit lanes on certain sections of the road for reasons such as fluency in addition to the Walk of Fame or to the Avenida Primero de Mayo.

It is scheduled for a period of two months for the full completion of the works, which will begin before the end of the year, in which more than 220,000 euros will be invested.
