Murcia's change intends to devote funds bullfighting activities to alleviate poverty (25/07/2015)

To Margarita Guerrero, Councillor Murcia's change, is nonsense in the region with the highest child poverty rate of one euro spent on an activity based on animal abuse.

Therefore, he has filed a motion, which will defend in full next City Council to allocate funds that are directly and indirectly subsidize bullfighting "to mitigate and to cover situations of poverty and social exclusion in the municipality".

"Subsidizing or related festivities bullfighting is anachronistic activities," said the councilor who explains that this motion is only a first step towards legal and administrative changes needed to promote a dignified and fulfilling existence of other species.

The critical social situation of the municipality is only incentive to act more quickly on animal protection, "we are obliged to avoid the pain of others in any circumstances, but especially when resources are scarce to finish with 42% of child poverty in our municipality, "he continued.

He is not human.

Do we right?

is the motto that the candidacy of popular unity will circulate for a few days by the networks in an Internet campaign to bolster support for the motion.

"Empathize with the suffering of others is a human characteristic.

Murcia has the ability to step up and be among the more than 150 municipalities that have stopped subsidizing bullfighting, "said Guerrero.

The mayor also pointed out that any economic resource is useful when 86,949 families living in severe poverty in the region or when 77% of Murcia households are struggling to make ends meet.

"We are economically maintaining animal abuse when we are not able to provide a solution to the suffering of the citizens", he concluded.
