A research shows that only 17% of HR managers in the region are women (22/07/2015)

One study, conducted at the University of Murcia by Juan Antonio Nieto Martos as final dissertation work, has analyzed the skills necessary for leadership positions in human resources companies in the region of Murcia.

The work, which was published in the journal AprendeRH says gender as a relevant factor in hiring people who play these positions, as highlights the author, only 17% of hiring managers surveyed they are women.

The study, which was characterized by the use of a methodology and fully innovative profile describes the type of director of human resources in the Region of Murcia as a male between 36 and 45, whose formation is a law degree, Psychology or Labour Relations and a Masters degree in Human Resources.

In relation to knowledge and attitudes required for the position, says Nieto communication skills, flexibility, adaptation to possible changes that could affect the company and the ability to foster teamwork.

On the other hand, the researcher has shown in his article that the powers change depending on the experience of the person who holds the position.

In this respect, he cites as an example that those managers with more years in a similar position will be asked greater bargaining power, while those who have less experience will be valued primarily for their technical expertise.

The work was supervised by Professor of Sociology at the University of Murcia José Angel Olaz Captain.
