40 unemployed young people learn gardening and energy efficiency systems while working on two projects of the City (15/07/2015)

By the Joint-Training Employment will develop the City Council with the collaboration of the SEF program.

Students will work on improving green areas of Vistabella and installation of a system of collection of photovoltaic solar energy in FICA.

For the duration of the project, they learn a specialty and receive a scholarship or salary.

Forty young unemployed learn a profession by participating in two training programs that will teach the City and at the same time, will involve two beneficial actions for the city: improving the gardens of Vistabella and implementing an energy efficiency system in FICA .

The Governing Board held this morning approved two projects, whose total cost amounts to 835,000 euros, 400,000 euros of which come from the municipal contribution and the remaining $ 435,000 of a grant to the Regional Employment Service and Training (SEF) Program mixed employment-training system for young people Youth Guarantee.

The first of these projects is the improvement and maintenance of gardens and green areas in the neighborhood of Vistabella. Plaza Federico Servet and gardens Avd Mayor Jorge Palacios, as well as the landscaping of the parking lot of the Center for Municipal Initiatives ( CIM-M) and complementary way, the maintenance of the front of the Reina Sofía Hospital beds, pots of Gateway Jorge Manrique and gardens CFIE-El Palmar, Training center of FICA and Park City Peace in El Palmar.

Its cost amounts to 460,000 euros, of which 261,000 will be funded by the SEF.

Its implementation will train 24 students on three specialties: ancillary activities nursery, gardens and garden centers;

installation and maintenance of gardens and greenery;

seed production and nursery plants.

For its part, the energy efficiency project in FICA allowed to install a system of photovoltaic solar energy to supply new public address systems, CCTV and existing alarm, in order to improve energy efficiency the center using renewable energy and, in turn, also improving its safety.

It has a total budget of almost 374,000 euros, of which the SEF grant involves more than 173,000 euros.

In this case, the 16 student workers acquire training in the assembly and maintenance of solar photovoltaic and installation and maintenance of sound systems, public address and CCTV.

Learning by doing

The SEF grant covers the costs of training and operation;

in addition to salary workers of the pupils from the 2nd phase, which begins the fourth month of the program.

The total project duration 12 months since its inception, which must be before the end of 2015.

In the municipal contribution (€ 400,000, of which € 200,000 for each project) charges the cost of the management team and supplies and investments necessary for the full completion of the works included.

The project is divided into two stages, the first of three months and a second in nine months.

In the 1st phase the students are in a period of training, so they charge a grant assistance of € 9.00 / day by the SEF.

In phase alternating -of duration-9 months will be hired by the city in the form of contract for training and learning and students will receive an income of 75% of the minimum wage.

In collaboration with the INEM and the SEF, the city of Murcia has carried out 15 projects workshop schools and 4 mixed employment-training programs, two for youth and two for adults, whose goals have been professional qualification for the employment of more 700 young people aged between 16 and 25, as well as various projects aimed at unemployed people over 25 years that have formed more than 200 people in various specialties.

The same was in addition to the professional qualifications of the participants contributed to also improve the social and cultural heritage of the municipality, through the restoration and where appropriate, new construction of public buildings and the creation and maintenance of gardens.

In all cases they have proven successful projects that provide job placement, mainly due to the skills acquired by students as they learn a profession, working in it.
