Students with disabilities know university life in the "Inclusive Campus" of the University of Murcia (09/07/2015)

The University of Murcia today inaugurated the "Inclusive Campus, Campus without Limits", a program of the Ministry of Education to bring the university to pre-university students with disabilities and promote their full inclusion in higher education.

Until 17 July twenty graduate students of secondary education, university and training of the Murcia region and beyond will come in contact with everyday university life.

Among the activities to be carried out, they have organized lectures on different disciplines, workshops, scientific diving, dance, sailing and sports, in addition to declines in the Segura River and visits to the most emblematic places of the region.

To develop this program, sponsored foundations ONCE and Repsol, the University of Murcia was selected along with the universities of Seville, Salamanca, Granada, Malaga, Jaen and Almeria Navarra.

"Inclusive Campus" is performed at the University of Murcia thanks to the work of the Service for Diversity and Vice President for Student Volunteer, Quality and Equality, whose owner, Professor Miguel Angel Perez, recalled during the opening ceremony that the UMU is, with 3%, the Spanish university classroom with the highest ratio of students with disabilities.

The general director of Universities in the Autonomous Community functions, Luis Javier Lozano, stressed, meanwhile, the sensitivity he has always shown the University of Murcia with disability issues.

The event, which took place in the University Community Centre, also attended by Secretary General of Universities, Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, Juan Maria Vazquez, who has called Inclusive Campus as a "program for individuals and for foster a more inclusive and fairer "diverse society.

In his turn to speak, the rector of the University, José Orihuela, has reaffirmed the commitment of the institution to disability, as indicated by the future implementation of a Plan of Inclusion.

During the ceremony also they participated the general secretary of the ONCE Foundation, Teresa Palahí;

Deputy Director of Institutional Programs Repsol Foundation, William Garland, and the secretary general of CERMI (Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities) Murcia, María Teresa Lajarín.
