More than 1,900 children enjoy a different holiday in the summer schools organized by the area of ​​Social Rights (06/07/2015)

Councilwoman Conchita Ruiz this morning visited three of them, which involved children aged between 6 and 12, but 4 schools for teenagers and 115 seats for one week camps are organized.

This year the theme of the activities is "Finding Atlantis", focusing the interest in the importance of water, the Olympics and multiculturalism.

Social rights reserve places for children of disadvantaged backgrounds, who are served throughout the year by the City.

1,930 children aged between 6 and 12 years enjoy different holidays this month by participating in summer schools that promotes the Department of Social Rights, directed by Conchita Ruiz.

It is a program designed by the city in which a portion of the available places are reserved for children who throughout the course attending social service projects, thus providing the ability to access in the summer to these activities and leisure time Free.

Of the 41 summer schools organized by the council, 27 are held in 14 districts and neighborhoods, open from 10-13 hours.

38 are promoted by the area of ​​Social Rights which 10 are in coordination and collaboration with the Department of Culture -The St. Pius X Carmen, El Esparragal, Zarandona, Cobatillas, Sangonera La Seca, El Ranero, Arboleja, Los Dolores and Javalí Viejo-.

The remaining 3 are developed together with associations and volunteer groups: AMPA Codorniú Carolina, Volunteer Santiago and Zaraíche and Cologne Urbana of Jesus and Mary.

Specifically, in the schools of Vistabella, Our Lady of the Rosary, Bacons Bridge and San Juan Bautista, Stables, attended by 160 children.

Most schools are aimed at children between 6 and 12, but 4 also include up to 80 teenagers, aged between 13 and 16 years.

185 were offered voluntary groups and associations.

For the third year, 24 university collaborate in program altruistically volunteers who give their free time to support monitors in different activities taking place.

Discovering Atlantis

This year summer school has as its central axis "Finding Atlantis" and activities are related to the legend and the way of life of this lost civilization, leading to three centers of interest:

- From 2 to 7 July, the importance of water for the survival of the planet and respect for the environment and the importance of recycling for sustainable development of society.

- From 8 to July 14, the Olympics of Atlantis, with the completion of various games and sports activities as a means of communication and leisure.

- From 15 to 21 July, multiculturalism and coexistence in diversity of cultures.

Meanwhile, in coordination with FEAPS, it has built an activity disability awareness, consisting of the collection of caps solidarity.

For this, the minors will 'view a video in which under the various associations that make up the federation reflect their disabilities.

All these activities allow children to participate in an extensive program of leisure, sports and educational, cultural, expression and creativity activities.

Summer activities managed by Social Rights also include 115 camp spaces weeklong -in July and August-first half for minors participating in intervention programs and lack of economic resources.

Red Cross assists in the first aid training to volunteers who will participate in different summer schools.
