Croatia, France, Mexico, Russia and China bringing folklore to the streets of Murcia (29/06/2015)

From 13 to July 17 Murcia enjoy street performances, exhibitions, workshops and seminars Folklore Festival in the Mediterranean.

Jesus Pacheco wants every participant or an assistant as becoming public forever "Ambassador of Murcia."

13 The next day the streets of the city will become the best place to host world music gathered in Murcia around the celebration of the 48th International Folklore Festival in the Mediterranean.

The event, presented this morning by the Councillor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesus Pacheco, Murcia allow enjoy an extensive program of street performances, exhibitions, workshops and seminars that will last until July 17.

It is the third occasion that is celebrated at this time and not in September as was the case until 2013. The change has increased the attendance and participation of public and been given greater prominence out of the general programming of the Fair of Murcia .

The Festival, declared of regional tourist interest, has become the longest of those taking place in the country.

This 48th edition has invited groups from Croatia, France, Mexico, Russia, China-Tapei, Tenerife and Teruel, and three associations of Murcia.

As characterizes this event, once again the popular content that lets achieve closeness to the public, the balance between modernity and tradition will be maintained, and respond to the philosophy that defined him as an appointment of a high cultural level, for study and research .

Not forgetting, of course, the factor as an element for promoting the city of Murcia because, as stated by Jesus Pacheco, "each group to visit us to participate or attend the festival has to return to its place as ambassador Murcia forever ".

For five days the streets and squares will be a live scenario by which transit parades and performances by choirs and dance groups, will happen regardless of the stage.

Romea Square will host once again the lighting ceremony of the Torch of Friendship.

In all, no shortage exhibitions complement and endow the festival its foundation and rationale, studies and papers on folklore that will generate a seminar on ethnography, plus readings, recitations and dialogues that have as central Mediterranean Sea and surrounding cultures.

Are faces of participants in previous editions of the festival in which is reflected the colorful, cultural and racial diversity, the joy, the proximity of folklore and the public as well as the melting pot of races, cultures and aesthetics that come together in the streets Murcia city and that make a living as a stage.
