The Governing Board of the City of Murcia has approved a cooperation agreement with Caritas Diocese of Cartagena today amounting to 225,000.
The purpose of this agreement is to facilitate Caritas meets the needs of nearly a hundred children and to facilitate access to housing for immigrants in situations of social vulnerability.
One of the commitments of the new corporation will focus on the basic needs of the citizens so that there is neither a family in Murcia at risk of social exclusion to that lacks basic services.
This agreement affects this line, as it will enable the social organization Caritas develop two projects:
- The "Shelter and Care Menor- CAYAM", in which a total of 52 under 50 families, aged between 0 and 3 years, and 40 children between 4 and 12 years are cared for and their families.
Their activities ranging from social promotion to support tasks of prevention of truancy and improving the conditions of school integration.
- "Housing first and second shelter for immigrants in exceptional situation" which provides temporary housing for immigrants in the municipality, mainly single parents with children and adults responsible men with special difficulties in access to housing.
The program provides a first humanitarian reception and care necessities and the subsequent adoption of measures aimed at the progressive social integration.
It occurs annually around 175 people in the reception area and some 200 families in primary care to cover their basic needs.
Prevention of exclusion and the fight against poverty and social integration of people and disadvantaged social groups are two areas in which work together the city of Murcia and Caritas Diocese of Cartagena.
