The Civil Guard and the tax authorities apprehended 1,500 packs of smuggled snuff (20/06/2015)

They have seized 1,500 packets of snuff and made ​​two complaints for violation of the Contraband Act

The Civil Guard and the Tax Agency (AEAT) in the framework of reciprocal collaboration between the two institutions, has developed, jointly, a service aimed at the prosecution of smuggling of snuff, which has resulted in the seizure of 1,500 packs snuff in an illegal market, located in a neighborhood of Murcia.

We have also handled two complaints for violation of the Law on Suppression of Smuggling.

Again, the Civil Guard and the Tax Agency began a joint device designed to detect the possible abnormal snuff marketing work through peddling in illegal markets of Murcia.

Fruit of the device, consisting of 30 members of the Civil Guard and the Tax Agency, fifteen vehicles were identified.

In two of the vehicles inspected 1,500 packets of snuff, various trademarks, which lacked the corresponding tax stamps and, instead, tax stamps from Eastern Europe, which were seized were found.

The drivers of the vehicles, two Ukrainian citizens were denounced for violating the Organic Law 12/1995 of 12 December, the Suppression of Smuggling.

With this type of inspection is to not only enforce the law, but to prevent and pursue actions that might jeopardize public health arising from the consumption of non-specific health and hygiene controls.

In addition, the retail of manufactured snuff in Spain, except the Canary Islands, is a monopoly, which is owned by the state, and is exercised through the network of tobacconists Expendeduría of snuff and timbre.

Marketing by illegal channels, evading the payment of taxes due, means economic loss to society.
