Now Murcia has denounced that 30% of the UCAM is built on protected land undeveloped (05/06/2015)

1.5 hectares of occupied UCAM are considered of high environmental and landscape value

NOW MURCIA has filed a complaint this afternoon in the register of the City of the fact that 30% of the Catholic University San Antonio (UCAM) is built without planning permission and pay the corresponding IBI, acting at all times with the complicity of the City.

Remember that Miguel Angel House gave to the UCAM land to expand the campus over 135,000 square meters of public land that belonged to all Murcia.

At present, the UCAM covers an area of nearly 5 hectares, which has built its facilities, of which 1.5 hectares are Huerta Floor Building No Protected (NR) for its high environmental and landscape value, where no you can build and where it is impossible to license facilities and urbanization that has taken place UCAM therefore this would be a illegal works.

That is, 30% of the built and urbanized in the UCAM would be illegal.

This also means that the UCAM is not paying Property Tax (IBI) corresponding to the 30% of its facilities, which are not contributing their common good as do other taxes Murcia and Murcia, which is a clear benefit to this private institution at the expense of all citizens.

While all this happens, the city of Murcia looks away and has not demanded adequate planning permission, or apparently proceeded to initiate appropriate disciplinary procedures for alleged illegality.

Being unlicensed works on undeveloped land, the City should have informed the Office of the High Court of Murcia (TSJRM) to initiate appropriate action against the perpetrators of such works, but until now not known of any action on the matter.

All this also involves a clear discrimination against the rest of Murcia, and even more when you know that the University of Murcia (UMU) is paying for the tax IBI more than 150,000 euros per year to the City, which puts us at a clear discriminatory treatment between UMU and UCAM.

MURCIA now intends to commence the necessary investigations to clarify the illegal development in the works of the Campus of the UCAM and also intends to be approved by the City Council exempted pursuant to Article 72 of the Law on Land Registry, for the University of Murcia will benefit from a reduction of 90% of IBI.
