Former Secretary of State Salvador Ordonez said the university must follow the pace set time (27/05/2015)

Former Secretary of State for Universities and Research between 2004 and 2006, Salvador Ordonez, said today in Murcia the Spanish university develops a good job, but you should never forget to follow the pace set time.

Ordonez, who was also rector of the University of Alicante and the International Menendez Pelayo, has made these statements during the conference at the University of Murcia, which has talked about the future of the university system in the knowledge society.

For the lecturer, it is necessary to have a funding agency, just as agencies are now available for evaluation.

At another point in his speech, he explained that public universities should have the same flexibility as private as otherwise would be a dereliction of duties by the State.

In his opinion, the Spanish university system should have walked towards more general and more specialized degrees about masters, and not vice versa, which is what has been done.

However, he added that the titles offered by Spanish universities are "perfectly comparable".

As for the most promising professions, Ordonez has said it can not accurately determine, among other reasons, "because we are in a changing world".

The speaker, who has developed his speech at the Faculty of Economics and Business, was presented by the rector, Jose Orihuela, who was the creator of this series of seminars.

The ceremony was also attended, among others, the general director of Universities, Luis Javier Lozano, and the ex-rector José Antonio Cobacho.
