Murcia's change democratize municipal women's centers (15/05/2015)

Murcia change included in its election democratization of municipal women's centers, ie, "who are women themselves choose what activities they want in a space that belongs to them."

The proposal has been shared, in a colloquium on Municipalism and Equality, by Jose Hernandez, a member of the Circle can Feminism, after describing, among other things, that women earn on average 16% less than men payroll in the region.

The event also participated Faustina Sanchez, specialist in forensic and violence, who explained the work that has developed since the Comprehensive Assessment Unit of the Institute of Legal Medicine doctor.

"We can not forget the institutions because from the institutions we can manage the awareness of people who have the power to change things, such as judges or ministers themselves," he explained, recalling that the UN has awarded the Comprehensive Violence Act Gender.

In the symposium, part of the thematic meetings of Murcia's change also participated candidate Margarita Guerrero, activist for the rights of migrants and member of United Left, and Toni Gomez, member of Equo.

For Guerrero, "a feminist city must guarantee the right to the city to all kinds of people and that includes having spaces which serve the development of daily activities and facilitate the reconciliation of different spheres of life, such as productive, reproductive, personal and communal politics. "

As discussed in the symposium's change Murcia considers it essential to analyze from a feminist perspective the reality of the municipality.

"It is impossible to develop our life in decent conditions in a municipality where the City allows, for example, that the rights of women workers in home help are not respected. Of the rights of these depends the welfare of their own families and that serve in their jobs, "they commented the candidates.

"With each public nursery or occupational center closed by the policies of the Popular Party, we have told the women that our place is home and our task is raising children and dependents.

With each violation of labor rights of women allowed, we send the message that we are taking up a job that is not for us.

So from us we change suggest that the network of municipal nursery schools, which have utilities that make care a priority in municipal policy and not an added obligation to the life of Murcia ", have concluded expands.
