The opening of a new stretch of the North Coast improves the connection between La Ñora, Guadalupe, the developments and Ucam (12/05/2015)

The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Angel House, accompanied by the Minister of Development, Public Works and Planning, Francisco Barnabas, visited the new stretch of the North Coast which entered into service in the area of ​​access to developments the Ucam, developments and Guadeloupe.

They were also attended by the Town Planning and Works and Community Services, Juan Antonio Bernabe and Jose Arce, respectively, the director of Urbamusa, Roque Ortiz, and the presidents of the municipal boards Nora, Jesus Aliaga, and Guadalupe, Jose Mateos .

This is the first opening of the sections that are running for the second phase of the Coastal North and South.

The final cost of the work amounted to 2.4 million euros, has a length of 1,042 meters and was carried out in 11 months, under the direction and draft Urbamusa.

In this case, it has undertaken the renovation of an existing road that serves as a connection between the RM-B3 road, next to the Catholic University San Antonio, and the stretch of the North Coast in Guadalupe, including the replacement of a section of the existing road B3.

The infrastructure that has been refurbished showed clear deficiencies and shortcomings, as had two carriageways of two lanes, no shoulders, no accessible sidewalks, lighting or median, or bike path.

The refurbishment carried out has resulted in the construction of two roads of two lanes of 3.50 meters wide, with exterior and interior landscaped verges and central reservation and illuminated.

Furthermore, it has been equipped with a bike lane segregated two-way along the western boundary of the road, which is the area in which the residential area is located, while the other side coincides with a median separating it from the tramline.

Regarding the replacement section RM-B3 road has one lane in each direction of traffic separated by a median and has a segregated bike lane two-way on both sides of the road.

With this arrangement we have tried to give it a very urban look, transforming it into a city street consolidated with gardens and pedestrian areas, as it will serve as a link between the districts of La Nora and Guadalupe, and also through the campus future the Catholic University of San Antonio, which is expected a large pedestrian traffic.

The aim is to give continuity to the various pedestrian areas linking the North Coast.

Ability to absorb 80,000 vehicles a day

Both this road as the South Coast will have the capacity to absorb 80,000 vehicles a day and allow traffic definitely take the urban centers of 15 districts, between San Gines and Algezares -11.3 kilometers in length and from Javalí Old El Esparragal - 13.3 miles-thus improving the quality of life for its 113,000 inhabitants, traffic congestion on existing roads and inland populations.

Both roads have a total budget of 51 million euros, financed by the autonomous region, and its completion will allow complete blood communications network of the municipality.

Regarding the North Coast, with a total length of 13,349 meters and a budget of 34.6 million euros have already been executed 5072 meters at a cost of 20.3 million euros.
