In the past four years it has launched the tram, the new grant of "coloraos" and the system of public rental bicycle.

The mayor stressed that Murcia connection with the rest of Spain and Europe by high speed is about to become a reality.

In the past four years, Murcia has laid the foundations for a new mobility based primarily on the promotion of public transport and bicycles as means of transportation usual.

This was stated by the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, who also highlighted the connection of Murcia with high speed execution and new roads that have improved accessibility to the districts.

New way of moving

In 2011 he began to develop a new form of mobility designed for the municipality.

The first step occurred on May 28 when the tram line 1 went into operation.

Since then, he has recorded over 14 million passengers and now, the feasibility study of extending the line to the neighborhood of El Carmen is under consideration of the allegations made.

Also in October 2012 launched the new bus service, the "Coloraos", with 24 vehicles completing five routes "Ray" and a circular.

So far, more than 4.8 million passengers have used the service in these approximately 2.5 years, with an increase of 20.3% between 2013 and 2014 (1.7 and 2.1 million passengers respectively).

Along with the new transport infrastructure, a critical event took place last February, when he entered the service of the users a new bond that combines buses "Coloraos" and Latbus and tram with a single card, comfortably, quickly, efficiently and economically.

In these three months they have acquired more than 59,000 bonds.

The third pillar of this new mobility has come from the hand of the bicycle, which the Government chair by Miguel Angel House has wanted to promote to promote its use as a regular means of transport.

Following this goal, Murcia now has more than 160 kilometers of bike paths (segregated ciclocales + + + sidewalk friendly way), 190 kilometers of streets considered as Zone 30 and three types of bicycle parking: in a "U", with 3,156 today-seater, closed -9 existing in squares and gardens and 9 more in works-and a "smart" under construction.

The most recent development has been the implementation of public rental system, MUyBICI, serving 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Already installed 20 benches and in the coming days will incorporate five more.

Since it began operating last April 20, nearly a thousand people have achieved their bonus.

Murcia also is present in the most important forums where they work to promote the use of bicycles among citizens.

Since 2011, the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, chairs the Network of Cities for the Bicycle -RCxB- and is part of the National Bureau of the Bicycle and the newly formed Inter-Parliamentary Group of the Bicycle.

The AVE Murcia

Murcia next connection with the high-speed rail has been another outstanding by House, who has expressed his satisfaction that the city will be connected via the AVE with the main cities of the country and Europe, while disappear imminent appearance the level crossing of Santiago El Mayor.

The AVE enter underground to Murcia, as required by the City Council, since the award of the work will occur in the coming days, ensuring permeability in the most populated urban areas.

Adif has contracted by more than half a million euros the drafting of burying rail access to Murcia on a stretch of eight kilometers and an execution period of 18 months.

The plan includes the adaptation of the station to the burial of Carmen beach roads currently run on the surface and the necessary actions for the elimination of level crossings.

New roads

Another key project launched by the Ministry of Development is Reguerón Highway, the stretch will link Beniaján Avenue with the connection of the highway Zeneta-San Javier, at the height of this hamlet.

The route, which will run parallel to the canal Reguerón and the route of the AVE, will be able to withstand a flow of 8,000 vehicles per day over a length of 6.8 kilometers, to which must be added 2.4 Km that connect to the Avenida Beniaján and 1.6 km from the branches with the motorway linking San Javier.

Reguerón Highway was awarded in 2009 and "canceled" a year later.

Its implementation is considered a priority by the city because of its strategic relevance and be critical not only for mobility in the municipality of Murcia, but to articulate all transits of the European Mediterranean Arc and connecting North Africa to central Europe.
