Conferences, symposia and concerts celebrating the centennial of the University of Murcia in the sixteenth edition of the Festival Murcia Tres Culturas (17/04/2015)

The collaboration between the Department of Culture and the University of Murcia was used to develop a program of activities to commemorate the centenary of the university framed within the XVI Festival Murcia Tres Culturas.

In total there are five specific activities to be held during the month of May, between conferences, symposia and concerts.

This special programming University Centennial begin on May 15 with the V International Symposium Ibn Arabi of Murcia and continue on the 18th with Congress 'Don Quixote in Ricote'.

Both activities have been organized to promote the knowledge of history, philosophy and the different languages ​​and literatures of the three cultures through philologists, thinkers, historians and writers, as well as providing a forum for knowledge, reflection and debate, for cultural enrichment that comes from diversity.

The V International Symposium Ibn Arabi in Murcia, to be held from 15 to 17 May at the doors of Castile Center, with the participation of José Antonio Antón Pacheco (Universidad de Sevilla), Gustavo Bize (Argentina), Grace Lopez Anguita ( University of Sevilla), Luce López Baralt (Puerto Rico), Bia Machado (USP, Brazil), Gloria Hernández Maite (US / Cuba), Manuela Ceballos (University of Tennessee, US / Colombia), Mirror and metaphor: towards a comparative reading of San Juan and Ibn Arabi, Francisco Martínez Albarracín (Cartagena), Claudio Marzullo (Italy), Fernando Mora (Valencia), José María Sánchez - Verdú (Germany / Spain), Anwaar Mustafa (Cairo University ) time in the narrative of Ibn Arabi (in search of paradise lost), Eric Winkel (University of South Carolina, USA), Ahmad Shafik (Cairo / University of Oviedo), Ibn Arabi's doctrine on the Asin Palacios work, and Paul Beneito (UMU), A century of research on Ibn Arabi in Spanish.

Between two documentary projections of Miguel Valls (Ibn Arabi and Islam (from The journey to the Mediterranean tradition) and the Tunisian film director Nacer Khemir Seeking Muhyiddin (2013) on Ibn Arabi of Murcia and his legacy will be counted ( fiction - documentary in several languages, with subtitles in Spanish).

In addition to the special issue 850 of the magazine The Red Sulphur and recent titles Janos Collection, two books of Luce López will also be presented - Baralt, the study entitled Miguel Asin Palacios, student of Sanskrit and professor of religious philosophy India, written in collaboration with Gloria Maité (Collection Alquitara, Mandala, Madrid), and the recently published collection of poems entitled Light upon light (Trotta, Madrid).

Ibn Arabi 2015 prizes will be awarded: - Tarjuman 2015, granted to Luce López - Award Ibn Arabi Baralt;

Ibn Arabi Award - Barzaj 2015, awarded to the composer José María Sánchez - Verdú;

and Ibn Arabi Award - Hikma, granted to the Spanish Society of Arab Studies.

Meanwhile, Congress 'Don Quixote in Ricote', will take place at the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Arts on 18 and 19 May, organized to mark the fourth centenary of the publication of the second part of Don Quixote .

It will address the presence and significance of Moorish and Islamic general references in Cervantes' work.

This anniversary is also the occasion of a meeting between the University of Murcia and the University of Puerto Rico and is a tribute to the international school moriscología formed between Hispanists of San Juan de Puerto Rico.

Also on 25, 26 and 27, the Hall of Moneo building will host the conference 'The University of Murcia: Building the Future' to present the main challenges to universities in modern times and how to deal with In order to raise standards of public service quality of higher education and research excellence.

Programming is complete with two concerts.

On May 20, at 21.30 pm in the Faculty of the University, the Svetoglas group will present the different dialects and musical styles from traditional Bulgarian folklore and ancient church music.

On May 21, also at the Faculty of the University and 21.30 hours, Radio Babel Marseille offer variety of voices and the groove of the beat-box, creating a variety of rhythms, sounds and environments.
