The Civil Guard surprises over fifty drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs in Murcia (14/04/2015)

Of the 2,540 tests exceeding 56 drivers blood-alcohol levels, of which four were arrested were detected

Ten other drivers were under the influence of drugs

Also three drivers were arrested for lack of driving license

Over the past coinciding with the celebration of the Spring Festival week in the capital, the Civil Guard in the region of Murcia has deployed a wide simultaneous verification device blood alcohol and drugs in various roads in the Region of Murcia, comprising more effective fifty Traffic Sector, which has controlled 2,540 drivers, of which 56 exceeded the maximum permitted blood alcohol levels and ten driving under the influence of drugs.

Three other drivers were arrested for lack of license.

These devices are made with the aim of drivers of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and drug awareness, and are framed in the 'Operational Plan for Police Response to Trafficking and Drug use in areas leisure and entertainment ', and in the Road Safety Strategy 2010-2020 Directorate General of Traffic.

In particular highlight the devices deployed during the 7th and April 12, coinciding with the celebration of the Bando de la Huerta and the Burial of the Sardine respectively, on roads near the city of Murcia, which were detected 56 drivers exceeding the maximum BAC (2.20%), of which four were arrested and brought to justice, and another 52 reported to the Provincial Traffic of Murcia.

Similarly, these devices were reported ten drivers for driving having taken drugs or other intoxicating substances prohibited and incompatible with driving, such as cocaine, cannabis and opiates.

These controls also detected three people driving private meeting of the driving license, by judicial or administrative decision, so they were arrested and brought to justice.

Driving a motor vehicle or moped with an alcohol level exceeding 0.60 mg / l breath entails the arrest of the driver, of course crime against road safety, punished with imprisonment of 3-6 months or a fine of 6-12 months or work for the benefit of the community of 31-90 days, and in any case deprivation permission time 1-4 years.

Also driving a motor vehicle or moped in case of loss of permit approval, having been deprived of all the points legally assigned or has been prudential private or permanently thereof by court order, is the arrest of the driver, of course crime against road safety, punished with imprisonment of 3-6 months or a fine of 12-24 months to work on behalf of the community of 31-90 days.

The driving motor vehicles or mopeds rates exceeding alcohol 0.25 mg / l 0.15 mg / l, novice and professional drivers and even 0.60 mg / l, following the recent reform of the Road Safety Act implies a financial penalty of up to 1,000 euros and the loss of up to 6 points from driving.

Driving having taken drugs or other substances, can determine the commission of the alleged crime against road safety, or possibly an administrative complaint, sanctioned on the same terms.

In these cases, once the circumstantial evidence of drug detection in saliva, drivers are required to provide a second sample of oral fluid for referral to an accredited laboratory and contrast the provisional result, under current regulations.

In all cases, the affected vehicles are immobilized by the Civil Guard until their drivers are able to continue their journey, once they have lowered the blood alcohol level within permitted limits or missing the presence of drugs or to be made other drivers that appropriate tests are enabled and pre-charge of vehicles.

The Civil Guard reiterates its message to those drivers, reckless and foolhardy, despite warnings campaigns and Traffic Department, drive after drinking or taking drugs, recalling that continue to intensify the implementation of the controls at any time of day or night, to avoid personal losses and unfortunate consequences resulting from accidents, especially during weekends and entertainment event of a mass influx of vehicles, appealing to the use of media collective transport or alternative formulas for these displacements than getting behind the wheel in these conditions, especially by younger drivers.
