A few weeks ago, the Coordinating Council can Murcia contacted all its registry to inform you that, almost since its inception, some of its most committed municipalismo members had been working to make it possible candidacy citizen to be submitted to the municipal elections of Murcia.
The result of this work, along with other political parties, representatives of social movements, local and independent citizens was the creation of an application, the legal form coalition with the name of "Change Murcia." The Citizen Council can Murcia also reported that the outcome of intensive negotiations involving all stakeholders involved did an intense exercise of generosity and democracy and to give all the attention to citizenship in this coalition would not appear the initials of the parties the conform. For the same reason, their legal representatives would be persons independent of political organizations. The coalition would defend a program developed in a participatory manner, the general political lines would be similar to those held by Can Murcia. The candidate would be elected in a open primary . The composition of the lists would be plural. The decisions both before and after the elections, would be taken by a Citizens Assembly.
And the candidates should assume an ethical code, including the possibility of being revoked.
Thus, the coalition met the requirements that can we considered essential to support a municipal candidates.
This is what we know to our enrollees.
And can Murcia launched a public consultation to be the people who decide about supporting the municipal candidates, under those specific conditions.
However, since that time, negotiations to close both political document as the ethical code of the project stalled.
The conditions under which enrollees can had decided to support a Murcia's change began to reverse.
And the subsequent negotiations and the subsequent process of primaries, have resulted a candidate who does not meet one of those conditions.
In a final effort, the social agents involved tried to reach a common agreement that would be a coalition that given the circumstances, approaching as closely as possible to the original spirit of the project.
But that in extremis agreement has not been possible.
Unfortunately, it has been impossible to build Murcia's change as the nomination of civic, plural and independent unit in which he had been working from the beginning and had excited so many people.
The inevitable result of this last phase of the process has been that many of the people who participated in the construction of Murcia's change have been gradually withdrawing from it.
For the same reason, political parties that participated in it since its inception, as Equo, have also decided to withdraw the nomination.
And for all that, and respect for the decision of our Citizens' Assembly, which had lent its support to an entirely different from today's change Murcia project, we have also decided to withdraw their support, hoping, at least, this process has not been in vain and that both political parties that participated in it as independent citizens be able to recognize the effort that both categories have invested in the process and we can all learn from own and others' mistakes to move forward in the construction of a new policy for our town.
