The Network of Organizations for Local Development in 2014 prompted the creation of over 24,000 jobs in Spain (29/03/2015)

Representatives of the Center for Municipal Initiatives Murcia (CIM-M) have attended this week's annual meeting of the Network of Local Development Entities (REDEL) held this week in Alicante.

The CIM-M, under the Department of Employment, Trade and Enterprise, led by José María Tortosa, is part of the Network since 2013.

The Red, born in 2008 is a response to the need that exists to collaborate and work between local agencies to expand the knowledge gained by experience of each partner and innovate and develop projects together and exert lobby.

Born in 2008, in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of organizations through reflection, knowledge management and collaboration, seeking recognition and enhancement of technical and political level of local development and international projection.

REDEL consists of a set of agencies and local economic development organizations promoting their networking in different Spanish territories, and has the vocation to become a benchmark for this kind of entities, political entities that support them, professionals part of them and, in general, the various actors involved in the design and management of local economic development policies in our country.

The entities that are part of REDEL are: Barcelona Activa, Madrid Embark, Palma Activa, GISA Local Development Agency City of Getafe, Barcelona Provincial Council, City of Santiago de Compostela, Basque Association of Development Agencies GARAPEN well as new additions Hall Murcia (Centro Municipal Initiatives Murcia), Ayuntamiento de Valencia, Alicante Town Hall (Impulsalicante), Leon Institute of Economic Development, Training and Employment (Ildefe), Ayuntamiento de Málaga (PROMALAGA) and City of Córdoba.

In fiscal 2014, the population covered by integrated agencies REDEL amounts to 11,629,826 people.

It has a budget of 158 million euros with which through the support of 1,212 professional people have generated 24,182 jobs and has supported the creation of 8,225 companies.

Redel present the challenges and the future of local economic development: its evolution, present and future to the crisis.

These are the conclusions of the discussions with those who want to appeal to citizens, vindicate and claim the role of local economic development, and agencies in particular, before the crisis, its importance in economic recovery and welfare of the citizens and their significant contribution in building a new stronger local economies going forward.

In REDEL you want to emphasize the important role that local economic development policies have been playing in the last three decades in our country in areas such as promotion of entrepreneurship among the population;

improving the chances of getting a job, especially for disadvantaged groups;

strengthening local production systems;

the commercial and tourist revitalization of our municipalities, counties and provinces;

among many others.

The proximity to the territory, people and businesses who live and move and carry out their activities in it, of the entities that deploy these policies has been, is and will be the primary key successes.
