Pedestrians La Paz have more road safety (16/03/2015)

The Department of Traffic and Transport intends to carry out changes to the busy road connecting Paul VI May First Avenue and Avenue of Fame.

These measures are specifically aimed at improving road safety for pedestrians.

Several actions have already been undertaken to date, strengthening the vertical and horizontal signaling.

To these will be added new security measures and modifications to the geometric layout of one's way to complement existing ones.

The project plans to expand the number of semaphores in the three intersections that lack them and reduce from two to one lane of current flow in the most dangerous sections of the road.

The goal is to reduce traffic intensity while the running speed and reduce the width of road crossing by pedestrians.

With these two measures will be achieved also provide greater surface area free parking, getting over 80 new positions.

By reducing the extension of the roadway pavements, especially at intersections of reduced visibility, which is to be achieved to shorten the cross section of road by pedestrians thereby increasing safety occurs.

On the other hand are regulated by traffic light installations existing crossings in said route including different types of traffic lights, columns and brackets that increase the flow of traffic and avoid unnecessary delays.

These elements include acoustic signals and vandal push to demand crosswalk.

The project will not change and will respect the two exit lanes on certain sections of the road for reasons of fluidity such as the incorporation into the Walk of Fame or to the Avenida Primero de Mayo.

Is scheduled for a period of two months for the full completion of the works, in which more than 220,000 euros will be invested.
