75 percent of the work of home care in the Region of Murcia is developed by foreign women, as reflected in the conclusions of the doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia by Encarnación Ruiz Casanova.
The study, which has been rated as outstanding cum laude, adds that since 2005, with the process of regularization of immigrants, surfaced a lot of jobs that until then was statistically hidden.
The doctoral thesis, developed at the Faculty of Labour Sciences University, also said that in recent years a greater willingness of families were observed to legally hire women who provide this service for home assistance.
For the realization of the thesis, the author conducted over 2,200 surveys, of which almost 700 corresponded to families, and the rest, migrant women domestic workers resident in the city of Murcia.
The directors of the study were the teachers of the University of Murcia Francisco Maeso Fernández and José Prudencio Riquelme Perea.
