The Governing Council sets the January 21 as Regional Day Mediation (16/01/2015)

Through this agreement, the Governing Council responds to a motion of the Plenum of the Regional Assembly which requested the Government's approval of this agreement, in order that the January 21 day serve as a reference and reflection for mediation professionals and society as a whole.

Mediation is presented as a model of conflict resolution with which it is pursued through the intervention of a third neutral and impartial, that two or more people manage to resolve their differences through an agreement.

It is a model that is trying to extend to all areas of society as a quicker and cheaper than going to the courts alternative, being possible to resort to mediation processes in matters of civil and commercial matters, as well as criminal, social or administrative litigation.

This form of dispute resolution is becoming increasingly hard in Spain, especially after the enactment in July 2012 of the Law of mediation in civil and commercial matters, which develops a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on this matter.
