The Romea Theatre will host the charity concert `Oh happy day: from jazz to gospel' (07/11/2014)

The Romea Theatre will host the University Choir of Murcia offer on Tuesday November 11, at 21 pm, a concert entitled `Oh Happy Day: Jazz at gospel' to benefit Hope Phone.

The event is jointly organized by the Association and the Vice President of Communication and Culture at the University of Murcia and entry is free until all seats, with the possibility of offering a voluntary donation to the association.

During the concert you can hear spirituals (and successes `This little light of mine' or` Climbin'up the mountain'), melodies and harmonies of the most authentic jazz, songs from musicals such as' Grease 'or' Sister Act' and some of the greatest hits of the 50s as Sandman' `Mister, 'Ramalama Ding Dong' or song` Unchained Melody', best known for being part of the soundtrack of the movie `Ghost'.

The University Choir is made up of over fifty students from the University of Murcia, many exchange students from countries such as China, America, Germany, Austria, Mexico, UK, Belgium, France and Italy.

She will be accompanied by a jazz band formed by José González (piano), Alexander Meseguer (drums), Ricardo Ramirez (guitar), Estibalitz Collado (trumpet), Manuel Buitrago (saxophone), all directed by the head director of the University Choir .

The Choir of the University of Murcia was founded in 1966 by Enrique Gonzalez Semitiel, who was chief conductor for over 20 years.

Other directors are Juan Cano Conesa, José Luis López García, Cesar Palazón, Mabel Breis, Egio Luis Vallejo, Emilio Cano Molina and Carmen Fernandez and Jorge Contreras Losana, its current director.

Phone of Hope is a volunteer association that provides telephone service in crisis 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Care in Crisis is carried out also by the personal attention, the seat, by a team of professionals, as well as conducting various workshops to address specific crises, such as Duel are learning to live with the disease, Caring for the Caregiver affective separation, etc., all free of charge.

The Hope Phone nationwide dedicated on November 15 to celebrate the `Escucha' Day to highlight the importance of active listening to anyone who is going through a difficult situation.

The concert of the University Choir, which next year will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its creation, has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Culture of the City of Murcia and the music store `Klavier' is framed within the `activities Escucha' Week organized by the Hope Phone.
