The Down Syndrome Foundation of Murcia (Fundown) has inaugurated a memorial exhibition on the occasion of its 20th anniversary.

It is projected through pictures and videos, everyday people with intellectual disabilities.

Users themselves have become directors, cameras, filmmakers and actors to develop the material which will be open until 18 November at the Chamber of Commerce of Murcia.

Alberto Garre, president of the regional government, attended the opening ceremony which brought together nearly 200 attendees including family members, employers, employees and authorities.

"The philosophy of this exhibition ties in perfectly with the line of work Fundown all these years: to enable people with intellectual disabilities to lead a normal life, with the rights and duties of all citizens and equal opportunity," explained Diego González, President of the Foundation.

The paper shows the results of the work Fundown been developing since 1994. Among the areas addressed are the training, which aims to facilitate access to the labor market including placements;

the job, which aims to create opportunities so that they can show their full potential as workers;

the shared housing as a fundamental basis to develop an independent life;

the active aging, which seeks to ensure the daily well-being at all ages;

the school of life, based on the premise of creating conditions for them to participate in their environment as each point;

school and parents, with friends and family that you help on issues that concern them most.

At present and in the various programs developed, Fundown works with an average of 200 people a month who are offered a route to employment as.

Through him, the social and educational needs are studied and will provide the knowledge and support needed to facilitate their integration through standardization.
