UCAM Students discuss with other young European Youth Policy (23/10/2014)

San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia, through its International Project Office (OPRI), is working on several European projects, in which students and teachers of the institution are analyzing and discussing issues related to youth policy, education and citizen participation.

The Deputy Dean of Degree in Audiovisual Communication from the UCAM, Isabel Sarabia, with seven students of communication (Pinar Agustin Ignacio Lucas, Nuria Lledo Periago Alba, Adriana Mullor, Marta Garcia and Pedro Fernández), this week attending a meeting in Mulhouse (France) with other young Europeans to discuss topics of great interest to this sector of society such as employability, civic engagement, human rights or sustainable development.

The theme of the meeting is slogan 'For an aware, active and creative youth' (By a conscious, active and creative youth).

The event is part of the activities that constitute the 'Erasmus + Program: Youth' within the 'Support for policy reform' which also includes countries such as France, Italy, Poland, Germany, Greece, Sweden and Latvia action.

The project creates dialogues between young people from different European areas, facilitating the exchange of experiences.

Furthermore, it is noteworthy that during the day today, the different working groups will present their findings to the European policy makers at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Alsace (France).

For Isabel Sarabia match between students from various countries is an important cultural exchange.

"Students have the opportunity not only to make their voices heard on issues that are of high priority for them but also to know the opinion of other young people on these issues both disturb them," he says.

The objective of the program 'Support for policy reform' is to promote the active participation of young people in democratic life, giving them the opportunity to discuss issues centered policy framework in the field of youth.

European Projects

According to notes from the university, for UCAM participate in such initiatives is to be present, once again, within the gestation of the policies that affect students, the youth of the region and the country.

"With our participation in this activity is reaffirmed, again, the international dimension of our university and its commitment to cooperation with European institutions and, ultimately, to society," qualifies the Deputy Dean of Degree in Audiovisual Communication.
