The Socialist Party spokesman, Pedro Lopez, accompanied by Council Juan Patricio Castro, Andrea Garries, Rosa Mar and Susana Hernandez has held this morning a meeting with the new rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, who has attended together with the vice-chancellors of Teaching, José Ángel López Jiménez;

Communication and Culture, José Antonio Gómez;

Students, Quality and Equality, Miguel Ángel Sánchez Pérez;

and Coordination and Intenacionalización, Bernardo Cascales Salinas.

The meeting is part of the institutional agenda that usually develops where the Municipal Socialist Group has moved the full support of the PSOE to education and public universities as well as their willingness to work together on common issues.

In this sense, during the meeting have been addressed mechanisms that the University of Murcia to prevent any student is forced to leave school due to financial problems remembering a few months ago the Socialist Group in Parliament requested that a fund be enabled emergency from the City to help the university with fewer resources.

Furthermore, it has also highlighted the difficulties faced by university students from villages to move to the Campus Espinardo due to poor public transport system in the city of Murcia and has followed up the various agreements between the City of Murcia and UMU.
