Students learn the secrets of the night sky and the importance of water (16/10/2014)

Meet the night sky and appreciate the importance of water is the aim of the activity 'Planetary and living water' at the Museum of Science and Water, which provides the Department of Education to the students of 3rd and 4th Primary education in the municipality.

Education Councilwoman Maria Dolores Sanchez, has this morning accompanied 50 students from 3rd grade school Maria Maroto on this visit.

Young visited the digital planetarium and dome have been observed in the simulation of a night sky, the Milky Way, the main stars and constellations that form planets, virtual travel through the universe, characteristics and differences of the heavenly bodies, movement translation, solstice and equinox, solar system and characteristics of the sun and planets.

They have also known the Living Water, with a variety of interactive modules, which allows students to experience and observe facts and water-related processes, know its importance as a sustainer of life on our planet, as well as the need to conserve a good that is as valuable as scarce.

The room is divided into four thematic blocks 'Water and Science', 'Water and Life', 'Water and geography' and 'Water and uses'.

In this activity you will be involved 1,953 schoolchildren in 40 schools during the school year.

Students reinforce concepts studied in class through exercises and dynamic approach to the physics, chemistry and biology.

This initiative is part of the 'The city also teaches', offering 78 different activities for students from Kindergarten, Primary, Middle and High School in the municipality known for its environment and the cultural, artistic, historical, natural, scientific and traditional heritage .

The last year participated in this program 2013/2014 63,420 students between 3 and 18 years (91% of total), 2,691 activity sessions.

'The city also teaches' has 78 different activities, 45% organized by the City Council and in collaboration with other public and private institutions, so that children and youth receive the opportunities the city offers, making the town in a place of formal and informal learning, a participatory and active mode.
