The municipality of Murcia will host from 17 to 19 October 2014 the Solar Race, which celebrates its fifth edition.
This is a competition for energy efficiency and endurance prototype vehicles developed by students at universities and colleges (vocational training), with the collaboration of companies.
The Councillor for the Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache, participated this morning in the presentation of this new appointment of the Solar Race, and says that this meeting will also serve to sensitize society about the existence of other alternative energies that can be used for mobility and home.
The key feature of the Solar Race Murcia is that vehicles can only use energy from renewable sources, unlike what happens in other European competitions.
The competition will be divided into two groups:
Experimental Vehicles and
Town Vehicles
Within each group, vehicles may compete in one of the following categories, depending on the source of energy they use:
Solar PV
Biofuels
Hydrogen
Electrical Plug
Vehicles must be designed and built by student groups from schools, primarily high schools and vocational training institutes, and universities.
