Murcia City Council, through the Department of Environment, directed Adela Martinez-Cache, has reserved a total of 20 parking spaces for electric motorcycles on two city streets thanks to the support of the European project "Electra".

The purpose of this reserve is to continue working for electric mobility in the city, the city of Murcia, through the European project Electra, Electric City Transport, funded by the European Union and aims to introduce a system of rental of electric scooters in urban areas.

The locations chosen to locate free parking for electric two-wheelers are Avenida Primero de Mayo, under the Blue Towers building, and Calle Alfonso Palazón Cremades, opposite the shopping center to Zigzag.

In each of the sites are ten spaces meter wide car for free parking.

These sites also respond to the proximity of two companies selling and rental of electric motorcycles, as Emissions 00 and Murcia on Wheels, companies involved in this project are Electra.

Both companies offer rental services of electric motorcycles for less than 150 euros per month.

This rental includes: insurance, helmet and full maintenance, so that the user does not have to worry about anything.

This rental service, is having a huge demand for local transport companies, courier or distribution.

Furthermore, it is a rent to own, so the desired elapsed rent period the customer can purchase the vehicle for its residual value by deducting the amounts already appropriated.

The Murcia City Hall, which is responsible for the project GER, Local Energy Agency of Murcia and European Programmes Service intends to continue expanding the number of parking spaces reserved for electric mobility, in addition to provide the city with a network electric charging infrastructure for electric cars and motorcycles that support in public to recharge these vehicles.

Martinez-Cache notes that "the way we must go to place electric mobility where it deserves is long, but with tangible actions like this, it appears the commitment of our City to sustainable mobility."
