IU-Green defends the public water management and demands a change of managers (06/10/2014)

Councilman IU-Greens in Murcia, José Ignacio Tornel, today defended the need to manage the water from the public domain, it has been considered essential to a change of managers at City Hall.

Tornel indicated that direct water management entail "an undeniable benefit" to the public because, among other benefits, help define a city to serve the people and not the interests of a few individuals, and create jobs.

In this sense, the mayor said that "trying to generate jobs and make hiring among small and medium enterprises" at the expense of large business groups.

"Only by eliminating the benefit of big business for a major municipality to allocate the budget to social programs that save and improve the quality of life of the population savings would occur," he added.

He assured that in localities where water is managed by the council "is unthinkable water cut" because the statutes of the public company forbid, considering this good "as it is" a basic right, not a business benefit.

As an example of experience redistricting water Tornel cited the case of Medina Sidonia, Cadiz, where the municipal government headed by Izquierda Unida, maintains public water management.

He insisted that this rigor of public managers is necessary, because "not just any type of redistricting," while it has considered that "whoever does not believe the public can not handle the public, will only be limited to balance the accounts ".

"Why do we want a councilor who has delegated its powers to a private company? Order to place their friends or like-minded people What rights advocates a public company whose purpose is first and legitimate economic benefit? Why choose the citizens if a councilor who then manages your taxes is the manager of a private company? "he asked.
