The Foundation intended Robles Chillida 29,000 euros in aid for research at the University of Murcia (30/09/2014)

The University of Murcia has received for the second year of Robles Chillida Foundation, based in Caravaca de la Cruz, 29,000 euros which will go to fund two research projects, two awards for doctoral theses and international mobility aid in areas of Health Sciences.

The selected projects, "Identification and validation of new biomarkers for monitoring response to treatment of canine leishmaniasis" Silvia Martinez Subiela and "Comparison of the microbiota, bioactive compounds and micronutrients in breast milk from southern Spain and regions of Brazil , Egypt, Honduras and Cambodia. Nutritional assessment of mothers and infants "Carmen Frontela Saseta, both receive 10,000 euros.

The first study will seek new markers in serum and urine that may be associated with treatment response in canine leishmaniasis, a serious global disease that not only causes damage to the dog, but can also affect humans if not proper treatment in time is performed.

The second, meanwhile, aims to identify the factors that can damage the composition of breast milk and directly affect the health of the infant.

In addition, this project guides and dietary patterns in order to improve the nutritional status of infants and prevent certain diseases will be developed.

In the category of doctoral theses, the winner of the first prize of 3,000 euros was Inmaculada Muñoz Calvo by a study that analyzes the efficacy of different physiotherapy treatments for the prevention and treatment of back pain in children, while Maria Eugenia de la Morena District has been awarded the second prize of 2,000 euros, for his thesis antithrombin deficiency (an anticoagulant) in patients.

Finally, Ester Párraga Ros is the recipient of the award for international mobility for their project "Training and specific training in histopathology and immunohistochemistry veterinary", for which he will receive 4,000 euros to work in the Center for Teaching, Research and Extension in Animal Production in Mexico .

The delivery of aid was held today in the former Church of the Society of Jesus Caravaca, in a ceremony in which the winning received the diploma and heard their projects.

The event was attended by the rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela;

Universities CEO, Luis Javier Lozano;

Mayor Caravaca, Domingo Aranda, and those responsible for the Foundation.

The Robles Chillida Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims for the help of university studies and research in the Region of Murcia organization.

The Foundation is named after the pharmacist caravaqueño Elijah Manuel Robles Chillida, who donated his estate to various initiatives that promote the health and welfare of citizens.
