The commitment of the University of Murcia for free software has been recognized with an award from the Foundation Apereo Merono Juan José Sánchez, programmer ATICA (Department of Information Technology and Applied Communications) in the Virtual Classroom of the educational institution .

The Virtual Classroom at the University of Murcia is based on the Sakai free software platform, which is a project of the Foundation Apereo, turn pioneer in the production of free software for higher education.
