Murcia begins the European Mobility Week with the initiative "Monte Clean Day" (16/09/2014)

The municipality of Murcia starts today the European Mobility Week 2014 by holding a series of activities taking place in different parts of town, and where the bike will be the star.

Coinciding with the celebration of the pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Fuensanta, today the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, with which it aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting and preserving our Ozone Layer is also commemorated.

The International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is an opportunity to promote awareness of the problem and appropriate measures, at the global, regional and national levels.

Within the SEM 2014, while accompanying the patron pilgrims to her shrine, this day is dedicated to developing a manifesto for the environment.

Murcia Area Plan Expo 30

The Murcia 30 Plan is a municipal initiative to complete the Bicycle Master Plan in the Municipality of Murcia and was born as an open living project.

The Murcia 30 Plan represents progress in the normalization and full integration of bicycles as a regular means of transport in Murcia.

Offers greater security for bicycle users and pedestrians, while improving the coexistence of these with motor vehicles.

This Plan reflects a system based on the European model of 'quiet zone' system.

Recall that the speed at which you are driving around the city is one of the most common causes of accidents, hence the importance of increasing the safety of cyclists and pedestrians.

30 The streets are part of a European initiative promoted by associations of pedestrians, cyclists, families of victims of traffic accidents and social ecology, which advocates reducing speed in cities of four main reasons:

- Reduce the number of assaults in town.

- Encourage more sustainable travel modes such as walking and cycling, which are real alternatives.

- With less pollution, life is healthier.

- If low consumption, energy saving.

We believe that the bike is called to "play a leading role in any model of sustainable urban mobility that price."

The bike creates and Murcia City are aware of it.

Showcase BIKE-IN-ATE, Bicycle Exchange, in the Plaza de Santo Domingo

With this activity we want to encourage bicycle use, facilitating the exchange of bicycles that you may have at home with other people who need them.

To do this, we will put in our booth-Information Point, located in Plaza de Santo Domingo - and throughout the week from 16 to 22 September - some documents where you can fill in your data and the characteristics of the bikes you want to exchange.

They can also fill in this document, those who are looking for a second hand bike.

This activity is not intended for retail stores, is exclusively for private individuals.

Our office hours are 10:00 to 14:00 and in the afternoon from 17:30 to 21:00.

See you!

The European Road Safety Charter, led by the European Commission, is the largest road safety platform of civil society.

To date, more than 2,300 public and private entities formed by companies, associations, local authorities, research institutions, universities and schools are committed to the letter and have taken actions and road safety initiatives for its members, employees and the rest of civil society.

All these actions have strengthened the culture of road safety throughout Europe, have improved people's knowledge about the causes of accidents and have helped create preventative measures and solutions.
