Experts Terra Natura Murcia raising two hyenas bottle to survive (16/09/2014)

Experts nature park and Terra Natura Murcia animals have had to raise two pups striped hyena (Hyaena hyaena) a bottle because her mother did not want to take care of them and therefore could not be fed your breast milk.

This is the first time the Murcia resort welcomes birth of this species, which live only in captivity in European zoos 54 copies.

The mother, named by their caregivers with the name Raya, had three pups but only two survived after delivery.

The park rangers found that the mother was behaving strangely with the young, who barely weighed 250 grams and its size was smaller than the palm of a mano.Raya kept small hyenas move from side to another, forcing specialists to remove them from their care to prevent hurt.

Unable to be fed breast milk, experts have started Terra Natura Murcia feeding bottle.

Like a human baby is treated, the two hyenas named Cira Noe and are fed by park employees.

Every day they are given four bottles of formula that gradually will be combined with the provision of small pieces of chicken and rabbit.

The babies take a bottle until the third month of life, at the start with a completely carnivorous diet.

When Noah and Cira grow and acquire a larger size will be introduced with their parents, but for now stay at another facility.

The striped hyena is much less known than the subspecies that is stained.

It's almost the same size as the stained and has a close resemblance to the 50 kilos weight, but differs in that its coat is black and white stripes.

These animals, which live in the wild in Africa, have a layer of hair that runs from the spine to the tail and to show a bristle when alertness.
