More than 2,200 unemployed young people benefit from municipal professional qualification programs (09/09/2014)

Mayor House delivers diplomas last year of access to the labor market, which involved 162 pupils aged between 16 and 20 years.

The City has also signed cooperation agreements with 72 companies for young people to make their labor practices.

The Initial Professional Qualification Programmes emerged as an alternative for those students who left compulsory secondary education untitled.

The aim of these programs is that students achieve skills at Level 1, the National Catalogue of Professional Qualifications, as well as providing the possibility of satisfactory employment or continue studies in different teachings.

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, presided this morning presented diplomas to the young participants during 2013/14, and a total of 162 aged 16 to 20 years.

Murcia City Council has developed Professional Workshop mode that is provided by municipalities, associations of municipalities and private business and nonprofit entities accredited and disadvantaged youth care experience.

This method must be developed in spaces near work activity areas in collaboration with employers and social partners in general and in connection with plans for employment and job placement.

The City Council is aware that the skills gap that young people who leave school without owner can create an almost insurmountable barrier to access to employment.

Therefore, since 1995 he has been collaborating with the Ministry of Education in programs of this nature, but have different structure and naming over time (Formative Guarantee Social Guarantee Professional Initiation and in the last 5 years, Professional) qualification, have been preserved in order to offset training deficit and provide personal and professional skills, which enable them to obtain an academic degree and professional both.

Training for Employment

Thus, and throughout these years, has trained 2,232 youths.

During the year 2013-2014 were given 9 professional qualifications to 11 groups with a ratio of 15 students per group;

Total 162 students of 16 to 20 years, unskilled and unemployed.

Vocational qualifications have been given:

- Electrotechnology and Communications Facilities.

- Installation of Electrical Networks.

- Welding and Metal Construction.

- Kitchen.

- Barber Shop.

- Aesthetics.

- Commerce.

- Plumbing-HVAC (2 groups).

- Vehicle Maintenance (2 groups).

The Vocational Training Program has been developed in the training centers and employment initiatives that the Department directed by José María Tortosa has in Murcia and El Palmar.

The keys to the success of this program lies in creating a real working environment, with rules, schedules and safety measures shall be treated as a workplace.

The program provides training, educational materials, equipment, individual and collective protection, clothing and transportation vouchers to needy students throughout the course.

It also includes a module on workplace practices than 150 hours, which have been conducted in the month of June, in which 72 companies have collaborated;

having signed 37 new cooperation agreements with companies in the municipality and renovated 35 existing agreements signed in previous years.

Thus, the alumni / ae have had his first professional experience in a real framework.

The program cost of this course is € 764,000, of which the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities has funded € 440,000 and the city of Murcia has contributed the remainder (42%).

The economic cost of the program per student has been € 6,161, well below the average school expenditure secondary students in Spain, which stands at € 8,516 and below spending in Europe, which is € 6,701 (according annual report data "Facts & Figures School Course" published by the Ministry of Education in 2013).

A majority of approved

As for the results of the Programme for this course: 162 students, of whom 124 have completed the training, internships in companies doing 103 Of these, 97 students (78%) have approved the training modules, and will be enrolled right to a professional certificate of level 1.

In addition, all students who have passed 2nd year pre-registration requested Vocational Training Center on Adult Education, in order to continue their studies and obtain the ESO and 2 of them have passed the entrance exams Cycles Intermediate Level Training.

Regarding employment, 12 students in the areas of Trade, Repair of Motor Vehicles, Barber, Welding and kitchen have been offered jobs at the conclusion of their practices.

With the new Education Act, LOMCE the Initial Vocational Training programs have been replaced by the Basic Vocational Training, which will be taught in schools.

Murcia City Council wants to recognize the other hand, the work that teachers have developed over the years, so the confidence they have provided more than 300 companies over time, in the experiments of students.
