"From the Huerta de Murcia" is the first compilation CD of The Gang Albatalía-Arboleja, training of traditional music born four years ago in the style of the crews from our garden.

This evening is presented at the Museum of the City, at 20 am, in the activities of the Feria de Murcia.

This group has the distinction of bringing together a selection of musicians and singers and the Albatalía Arboleja in the heart of the garden of Murcia.

He has participated in several meetings of gangs, cultural events and holidays and their repertoire includes a wide range of traditional dances and ritual songs, interpreted within the characteristic patterns of the music of oral tradition of the Southeast.

The word 'gang' in a generic sense, comes to refer to a small social group of any transitory grouped in order to perform a specific task.

In Murcia and other areas near the Spanish east, the gang, in the colloquial language of its inhabitants, is the group of musicians who have for centuries carried Christmas festive rituals, pilgrimages and employers particularly popular dances.

The revitalization of these groups in the last decade has led to the emergence of new gangs, urban or rural, the activity opens a new page in the party concept alive today, with the peculiarity of blending tradition and modernity in varying degrees.

The origin

This Gang is born Arnaldos driven Francisco (DEP), priest and historian of the parish.

Most crews have their origin in the guilds of the Brotherhood, linked to churches for a certain ritual that varies slightly depending on the area or features thereof.

The latter case is somewhat unusual because until 1958, nor Arboleja nor the Albatalía, both belonging to the municipality of Murcia, had their own parish.

The residents of these localities had to go, by proximity, or to the parish of San Antolin in Murcia (especially those of the Arboleja) or to St. Andrew, also in Murcia, or de Guadalupe (in the latter The nearest Albatalía) cases for liturgical services.

The group uses mainly limericks and quatrains Songbook Martinez Tornel, other direct in our fieldwork we develop informants and popular recordings and different era of singers in the area.
