Can Murcia requires the mall Watchtowers to restore the working conditions of janitors (02/09/2014)

The Circle can Murcia supports employees cleaning the mall Watchtowers in their struggle to recover the working conditions they had before being subrogated to a new subcontractor.

The precarious living today these workers is a reflection of what is happening in the Spanish society, where political measures supposedly aimed at economic recovery only serve to encourage the use of poor quality and labor exploitation.

Workers cleaning Watchtowers spent months enduring the loss of labor rights, with a decrease of working hours and wage prevents them make ends meet.

They also have to carry out their activities in shifts deliberately placed at odd hours of the day which deprives them of reconciling work and family life.

This happens after that in May, the mall, through the head of General Services, Antonio Tárraga, ask the staff to sign a voluntary sick leave in order to qualify for a disability grant recognized five of the eight workers.

They refused to consider participating in a fraud and since then have had to do their work in conditions that violate their rights.

Cases like this show that the announced end to the crisis by the government is based, thanks to labor reforms, the generalization of temporary and precarious contracts and defenseless workers, favoring that unscrupulous employers to harass and exploit their employees.

Can Murcia requires both Carrefour Property, Carrefour real estate subsidiary in charge of the management of the mall, like Samsa, the company responsible for contracts, to restore pre-subrogation working conditions.
