The Department of Social Welfare will keep the meals on wheels service in the same condition as it is currently provided.
Specifications for this service has again been approved for a maximum amount of 465,906 euros and is valid from 1 October this year to 31 December 2015.
At present 238 people benefit from the service to which they are served daily menu for the noon meal tailored to their health needs.
An average of 75,000 menus for users who enjoy the service are available throughout the year.
The menu cost is borne almost entirely by the city of Murcia and users participate in the cost thereof with the financial contribution of EUR 2 per menu.

This service coverage is given to the group of older people who are at greatest risk and social fragility, either due to social isolation, little or no family support network and limited capacity of personal autonomy, among other social factors .
Thus, it is intended that the older person is in this circumstance has guaranteed the maintenance of a proper diet, avoiding the problems and consequences arising from insufficient or inadequate food diet.
Thus maintaining the older person favors their usual environment of coexistence and coverage is given to those elderly who are in or at risk of social exclusion
