The minimum fare taxi Murcia will cost between 24.60% and 33.30% when take effect the new rates (17/08/2014)

Murcia Association of Consumers and Users, CONSUMUR, expresses its opposition to the proposed new tariff increase of the taxi industry in Murcia, unless last minute changes thereof, approval will become effective in the coming months.

These new rates would represent a significant increase compared to the currently applied pursuant to the Order of the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research in the Region of Murcia for a new rate for this service is authorized, with date13 March 2013 .

New rates

The most significant changes are, on one hand eliminating the concept of minimum stroke and on the other, increasing the minimum fare concept.

Currently, the minimum fare in daytime stood at 1.80 euros and 2.40 euros at, at night, weekends and holidays.

When to take effect the new rates, if approved the same, the minimum fare in daytime experience a rise of 33.30% (from 1.80 euros to 2.40 euros) and 24.60% (For 2 40 to 2.99 euros) at night, weekends and holidays.

A climb that CONSUMUR considered disproportionate and unjustified, especially valuing the CPI over the past year has seen a rise nationwide 0.20%, but if the annual reference index for July 2013 to July 2014, one is has placed in the least -0.70%, brushing our economy right now a state of deflation continue this downward trend in prices.

In this regard, the association also review the new rates that supplements, which, despite not having been modified in the last seven years, according to sources of the taxi industry, increase, in the case of luggage and packages would apply , 71% (0.35 euros to 0.60 euros).

For the pick-up service railway and port, would experience a rise of 52% (From 0.85 to 1.30 euros).

The organization believes that try to disproportionate increases given that the CPI in the last 7 years the period alluded to justify such subida-, was 10.4% nationally.

Regarding the charge of pets except guide -, note that the cost would fall by 29.4% (from 0.85 to 0.60 euros).

CONSUMUR not considered significant this fall in response to a low demand service, in relation to other supplements by users.

On the other hand, we note the proposal, too, eliminating the minimum stroke which is currently set at 3.55 euros, in daytime, and 4.85 euros, at night, weekends and holidays.

However, CONSUMUR apparently meant the elimination of this tariff -injusto concept in any case its application so far, as has been paying a fee for a service not rendered always alluding from the employer's taxi, to issues costs-compensation, should be a breakthrough in relations more balanced for taxi users considering that there is talk of a public service, but the disproportionate increase in the drop rate, interest only help taxi since a distance of only 300 meters per city, depending on the traffic, you might suppose, with the new rate actually drop rate, an increase between 7% and 10% above what you would pay for a career minimal.

And more distance or time of use of the service requested by the user, the greater the increase in relation to meeting the current minimum fare for the race.

On the other hand, indicate that if known by all holders of the taxi, once entered into force these rates provided, apply the minimum fare from the time it is collected to the user at the requested point or, conversely as practiced by most stations, except one at the moment, would be picked up in the village, with the amount of arrival since it was requested by telephone.

A different matter is the amount of arrival in districts, which means justified to be reached with a minimum reasonable amount above the minimum fare, as currently practiced, explained by the journey that takes the taxi to the above locations.

Turns taxi service

Another change that are planned introduction is the establishment of turns, according to industry sources have indicated, three down: From 5 to 15 hours, which will be operational 60% of taxis;

15 to 1 hour, which will be operational 40% of the taxis and 1 to 5 hours, which may be operating up to 100% of the taxis.

CONSUMUR considers the vehicles available in the expected shifts do not meet the actual demand for taxi users in the city of Murcia, since, for example, while 60% of the taxis in schedule of 5-15 hours guarantee (about 173 of the 288 taxis in the municipality), clearly insufficient speaking of a time slot tip, 1-5 am scheduled to do so 100% of the fleet, an issue having arguable that are hours where most of the population is resting and could only be justified in those days of weekends and eve of public holidays where social activity is high.

We believe that the established slots (from 5 to 15, from 15-1 and 1-5) should ensure a sufficient number of taxis taking into account the statistics of recent years where the number of services performed in these stripes reflect time.

It also has to take into account, as an added strip where the number of requests for taxis increases, corresponding to the weekends (Friday and Saturday), and the eve of public holidays.

Similarly, the association believes that the rest of taxis who were not authorized to work in the town indicated on slots, could do so in the districts in order to enhance these difficult given the affordability and time, sometimes by existing citizens thereof to make use of this public service, ensuring at least a minimum number of them according to the existing current demand.

The organization urges citizens wishing to receive more information about your rights as taxi users, who come to CONSUMUR.
