The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, presided this morning the official reception that the City provides to the groups participating in the International Folklore Festival in the Mediterranean.

The event, held at the Plenary Hall, included the traditional exchange of gifts, and councilors also attended Gomez and Alicia Rafael Barquero, festival director, Manuel Fernández-Delgado, and the head of the delegation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Benin, Macaire Oniloude.

The eleven participants in this year group have delivered a traditional gift to the Mayor of your city, while the council has given them a typical ceramic Murcia.

Together with representatives of the Spanish folklore, from Palencia and Asturias in addition to groups of Salzillo Francisco and Puerto Lumbreras Murcia, El Quince and Virgen de la Vega, also participate in the festival representatives of Argentina, Azerbaijan, Republic of Benin, Portugal and Costa Rica.

All of them wished the mayor a happy stay in Murcia, "a city that until Friday and is for the festival" and stressed the possibility offered by the International Folklore Festival in the Mediterranean for around music and culture "we the people can understand."

Participating groups in this 47th edition are: Songs and Dances of Murcia RA Francisco Salzillo (Murcia), Argentina Folk Art Society of General Roca (Argentina), Buta Group Baku (Azerbaijan), Provincial Dances Group Palencia, Choirs Virgen del Rosario and Dances of RA Francisco Salzillo Puerto Lumbreras (Murcia), National Artistic Benin (Republic of Benin), Monteverde Folklore Group of Funchal - Madeira (Portugal), Songs and Dances of Our Lady of Atocha the orchard Peña El Membrillo (Murcia), Villaviciosa Aires Folklore Group of Asturias (Asturias), Dances and Traditions Association Tiquicia Group (Costa Rica) and Grupo Folklorico Virgen de la Vega (Murcia).
